Baby Shower #2

This past weekend, my mom and sister gave us a baby shower. We had lots of family and people from my home church in attendance. They decorated with the design of the baby bedding, and of course, lots of pinks. Everything looked so nice. Thanks, Momma and Mary for the shower!

We got lots of great things, including:
swing
pack and play
high chair
extra base for the car seat
over $400 in gift cards to Babies R Us/money
clothes
homemade blankets
mattress cover
sheets
Bumbo play tray
reusable snack containers
diapers
musical mobile

We are so blessed to have such wonderful friends and family!

Madelyn's Nursery--Part 2

Madelyn's nursery furniture has arrived! Our neighbor, Rob, was kind enough to come over and let the delivery people in while we were out of town due to Granddaddy's funeral. When we returned home, we had a nursery full of furniture! It definitely makes it look more like a nursery instead of just an empty room.

More updates to come...

My Birthday Boys

Cody celebrated his 27th birthday on August 7, and Hershey celebrated his 6th birthday on August 13.

Our friends, Amy and Elliot were here on Cody's birthday weekend. We all had a relaxing, but enjoyable weekend together, and I know Cody enjoyed having them here to help celebrate his birthday. We all went out to eat at a local Chinese place on Saturday and celebrated with cupcakes from Your Perfect Cake--one of Cody's new favorite dessert places. On Sunday night, Cody and I went out to eat at CPW's, a local pasta place, and then came home for cheesecake (Cody's choice of birthday cake this year).

The birthday boy and me

He didn't think I could put all of his birthday candles in a piece of cheesecake, but I did! Had he been another year older, I don't know if it would have worked!

We celebrated Hershey's birthday a few days late, due to being home on Hershey's birthday following my granddaddy's death. Hershey got a pupcake from Your Perfect Cake, a special dinner, as well as some treats and a new squeaky football toy.

His pupcake looks just like a real cupcake, but it's safe for dogs.

Mommy didn't have time to bake his pupcakes this year, but something tells me he didn't mind...

Happy birthday boys! I love you both very much!

Granddaddy

My granddaddy passed away last Friday, Aug. 12 due to Alzheimer's. He was a great granddaddy, and he will be missed so much!

Just a few of the things I will remember about my granddaddy:
1. He enjoyed playing jokes on others and laughing so hard until he cried.
2. He contemplated everything he did and put a lot of thought into it. No matter what he was doing--opening a present with his pocket knife, talking, fixing a car--he would take his time and would make sure it was done right.
3. He enjoyed being outside and working in his garden, and he always produced a large and tasty crop for the entire family. He was known for his white corn and cucumbers.
4. He liked animals. I can still remember him playing with my dogs that I had growing up. We even took Hershey to see him in the nursing home a couple times.
5. His reaction to Cody while he was in the nursing home--every time he saw Cody, his eyes would get big and he would smile and Cody could usually make him laugh. Even though Granddaddy was not alert most of the week before he died, he still had the same reaction to Cody on the day before he died. Although it was not as energetic as usual, you could tell he looked straight at Cody and gave him his best effort. It makes me feel good to know my granddaddy approved of and loved my husband!
6. Most of all, he loved his family.
