Basketball--Church League Style...

So I decided to play church league basketball again for Oakmont this year and we are off to a pretty good start. We have won the first two games of the regular season and if you count the preseason tourney, then we are 3-1 right now!! Compared to last season's total wins (2 all season long :( ) we are, as Stuart Scott would say, "en fuego".

Cody's OB/GYN Rotation

Well, Cody started his OB/GYN rotation this week. The entire rotation lasts for 8 weeks, but it is broken down into segments. For 2 weeks each, he has surgical OB/GYN, midwifery (maybe), ECU clinics, and labor and delivery. I don't think his schedule will be as bad as what we first thought it would be. He only has call on surgical and labor and delivery. Call for his surgical rotation is every third night, but only until 11 pm at the latest. However, he was told he'd probably be leaving by about 5:30 on call days. Call for labor and delivery is not quite as nice--he has overnight call every third night. At least it is only for 2 weeks. So far, he has enjoyed OB/GYN, but he still has a lot of work to do.

Snow Update

We have about 5 inches now, and it is still snowing. Hershey was helping his Daddy measure the snow. :)

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow...

Well, it really did snow! I couldn't believe it! Right now, we have about an inch, and there is supposed to be more snow on the way.

When we woke up this morning, nothing had really happened yet. You could tell the ground and roads were wet, but there was no precipitation coming down. ECU had already announced that the university was closed, and Cody soon found out he didn't have to go in either (Brody is on a different schedule). By the time we ate breakfast, snow had started falling. It gradually picked up and was really coming down in big flakes for a while. Hershey kept watching out the window at the snow. He would give us these sad looks saying, "I want to go play in the snow."

We decided to take him outside, and he loved it! It was so funny to watch him when he first got out there--he kept prancing around and bouncing from one place to the other. We took a ball outside, intending on throwing it for him, but he entertained himself most of the time. He kept wallering around, getting his nose completely covered with snow, and he would eat it--I guess this stems from his love of eating ice. Much to his dismay, we had to come back inside and warm up. He was starting to shiver (and so were we!). I had to dry him off with my hair dryer to get the snow to melt from his paws and get him warmed back up.

Watch the video below to see Hershey playing.

Antique Shopping

Cody and I both had the day off for MLK Day today, so went spent the day going antique shopping around Greenville. We went to about 5 different antique shops, some better than others. We were looking for anything that caught our eye, but mainly for medical stuff to add to Cody's collection. I didn't really find anything, but Cody got a thermometer case and a couple of old medicine bottles from Hollowell's Pharmacy--one of the first pharmacies in Greenville. One of the medicines was actually prescribed by the father of one of the doctors Cody currently works with.

Do you think we might get snow tomorrow??? They are calling for 4-6 inches.....

My "Gotta Have It" Creation

My mom and I are giving my sister and her fiance a wedding shower. I looked and looked and looked all over for nice invitations, but had no luck....so I decided to make my own. We are giving her a basket shower, where the guests are supposed to fill a basket full of goodies that relate to the theme. I made tags that explained the idea of the basket shower and assigned each guest a theme. Our themes included: sports, vacation, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, home improvement, and wine and cheese. I have to say that I think they turned out quite well. I am proud of my new creation...maybe I should start a business! Just kidding! I just hope Mary likes them as much as I do. Congratulations Mary and Jeremy!

Tree Huntin'

Cody and our neighbor, Mark, went on a little adventure today....and they came back with three trees for our yards. Let's just say they didn't come from Lowes. We have no idea what type of trees they are, so let's hope that when they start to get leaves again, they turn out to be a pretty tree--that is, if they live. :) Not many people can say they have husbands who go tree hunting for them, so I guess Elizabeth and I are pretty lucky to have such wonderful husbands. Thanks guys!

The Pilot Has Arrived!

When we got home from church today, our new Pilot was waiting in the driveway! How exciting! We couldn't wait to drive it, so we went out for lunch at Captain D's. Everything looks good, and Cody has already put his stuff in it to make it his own. We were a little disappointed that it rained today--it wasn't sparkling clean--and the inside obviously had not been vaccumed very well. Other than that, we are so excited to finally have a nice, new (to us) car!

New Car Arrives Tomorrow!

Only 16 and a half hours before the Pilot makes its debut in the Wingler Driveway!!! We are so excited! If you can't find us in our house tomorrow, we may be watching DVDs in the Pilot.

Happy 2009!

Happy New Year everyone! Cody and I finally saw the new year come in with our eyes open this year! Last year, we were both so tired and fell asleep before midnight. This year, we were both awake to see the ball drop in New York and celebrate with sparkling grape juice (vintage--leftover from our wedding!), port wine cheeseball, and Chicken-in-a-Biskit crackers. We hope you all had a wonderful new year and that 2009 is filled with many blessings for you.
